TikTok Engagement Rate Calculator
Enter likes, comments, shares and saves to get your engagement rate by followers and by views.

How to use the TikTok Engagement Rate Calculator
- Open your TikTok analytics for the video or videos you want to check.
- Type the total Likes, Comments and Shares into their fields. Counts must be 0 or more.
- Type Saves only if you want saves counted as engagements.
- Type your Followers count. It must be above 0 to be used.
- Type Video views if you want a rate by views.
- In “Videos or posts these numbers cover”, enter how many videos the totals come from. Use 1 for a single video.
- Read the result cards for total engagements, the rate by followers and the rate by views.
- Select Copy to copy the text result, or Download to save it.
The page opens with an example already filled in: 450 likes, 30 comments, 20 shares, 10,000 followers and 25,000 views, which gives 5.00% by followers and 2.00% by views. Overwrite each field with your own numbers, and the cards update as you type, so there is no button to press. Counts are whole numbers copied from your analytics, and a field left empty goes back to the example value, so type 0 where a count does not apply. Your numbers stay in the fields, and the page address keeps them too. A link you save or copy reopens with the same entries, so you can come back to a set of numbers without retyping them.
How to calculate TikTok engagement rate
To calculate a TikTok engagement rate, add up your engagements, divide that total by your followers or your views, and multiply by 100. Engagements are likes plus comments plus shares plus saves, where saves count only if you include them.
The engagement rate formula looks like this:
- engagements = likes + comments + shares + saves
- engagement rate = engagements / audience x 100
The audience is either your follower count or your video views. Saves count only if you enter them, so the total depends on whether you choose to count them. Use the same rule every time so that your comparisons between videos stay fair.
Take a video with 300 likes, 20 comments, 10 shares and 5 saves. That gives 335 engagements. With 8,000 followers, the rate by followers is 335 / 8,000 x 100 = 4.19%. With 15,000 views, the rate by views is 335 / 15,000 x 100 = 2.23%, rounded to two decimal places.
Compare videos that are about the same age. The counts of a video keep growing for days after it is posted, so a rate measured one day after posting is not comparable with one measured a month later. Pick one moment, such as seven days after posting, and read every video then.
One video that went viral can hide how the rest of your account performs. An average over many videos is pulled up by it, so calculate a typical video on its own as well and compare the two. If they differ a lot, the account depends on a few hits rather than on steady engagement, and that is worth knowing when you plan content.
Engagement rate by followers or by views?
Both measures are in common use, and they answer different questions. The rate by followers shows how many of your followers react. The rate by views shows how many of the people who watched react, whether they follow you or not.
A video seen by many non-followers can have a rate by views well apart from its rate by followers. This is normal, so check both before deciding how a post performed. The follower rate tells you how your existing audience responds, while the view rate tells you how the content performs with everyone who watched it.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good TikTok engagement rate?
There is no fixed benchmark. A good rate depends on account size, niche and how engagement is defined, so the most useful comparison is with your own past videos.
How do I calculate the average engagement rate over several videos?
Add the likes, comments, shares and saves from all the videos, enter the totals, and set “Videos or posts these numbers cover” to the number of videos. The rate is the average per video over your audience. For example, 4,000 likes, 600 comments and 400 shares over 10 videos give 5,000 engagements, or 500 per video. With 20,000 followers, that is 2.50%.
Do I have to count saves?
No. Saves count as an engagement only if you enter them. Leave the field at 0 if you do not want them included, and keep the same choice across the videos you compare.
What happens if I enter 0 for followers or views?
Entering 0 leaves that audience out of the calculation. At least one audience, followers or views, must be above 0 for the tool to give a rate.
Are my numbers uploaded or linked to my TikTok account?
No. You type the numbers in by hand from TikTok analytics. Nothing is connected to an account or uploaded.
